Hughes Mushrooms

Irish mushrooms nurtured
in selenium-rich soil

Innovation is very important to the team at Hughes Mushrooms and we are never afraid to try new ideas - like the world’s first selenium enriched mushroom. Selenium is a really important mineral which is every bit as important to our health as Iron or Calcium and in the UK and Ireland, we don’t get enough of it.

In fact, experts agree that the selenium levels in our blood are currently less than 50% of the recommended daily intake.* This is because the level of Selenium in European soil is naturally much lower than in other parts of the world and changes in trading patterns since joining the EU have resulted in our lower exposure to other soil types.

Gathered tastes every bit as good as an everyday mushroom and because it doesn’t lose its goodness when you cook it, you can use it in exactly the same way as a normal mushroom.

* The British government’s defined reference nutrient intakes for selenium are 75 [mu]g/day for men and 60 [mu]g/day for women
